Why our Life Plan and nonprofit status matter

Better planning = better living

Both Rockwood communities—Rockwood at Whitworth and Rockwood South Hill—have been designed as Life Plan communities because we believe that making a smart plan for future care is an important part of enabling seniors to more deeply enjoy their lives today. All residents at Rockwood communities have access to various levels of care right at the community.

The peace of mind of knowing that future care needs can be taken care of is vital to both our residents and their families. With Assisted Living and Memory Support residences available right here on the Rockwood at Whitworth campus, if and when higher levels of care are needed, residents enjoy the knowledge that they’ll get the expert, person-centered care they need from the same staff they’ve come to know and trust.

How a Life Plan works

The core idea of a Life Plan is relatively simple. The goal is to make a plan now that provides the very best independent living today while planning for future higher levels of care if and when they’re needed. So as an independent living resident at any Rockwood community, you’ll be free to enjoy your best life today knowing that you have access to high quality care. A Life Plan is also a fantastic way to protect you and your family from worrying about future healthcare availability.

Life Plans are generally built upon an initial residential entry fee and a monthly service fee. That initial entry fee can be, depending on the contract option you choose, refundable up to 80% to you or your heirs.

The nonprofit difference

In addition to offering a full slate of independent living and healthcare services, Rockwood’s mission-driven, nonprofit structure is another important factor when making plans for retirement life. As a nonprofit, profits are returned to the organization and used to make our communities better each and every day. Both Rockwood communities exist solely to enhance the daily lives of our residents.

Rockwood is governed by a Board of Trustees who set policies and maintain our mission. This Board is made up of residents from our communities along with Spokane-area residents who bring a wide range of professional expertise, community involvement and leadership.

Does it make a difference? We believe so. Learn what really makes-profit and nonprofit communities different.
