The Fitness Instructor is responsible for supporting the Life Enrichment Director and Wellness Coordinator in overseeing the fitness center as well as instructing fitness classes for Rockwood at Whitworth residents and employees.
Pay Range: $20.00–$22.00 per hour
Shift Type: Teach one or two classes per week, as determined by the department.
Job Functions
- Ability to teach a variety of exercise classes to meet the variable levels of residents and employees
- Assist in ongoing education opportunities for residents and employees in all aspects of wellness that support the LiveWell program
- Oversee fitness or recreation facilities, ensuring safe and clean facilities and equipment
- Provide individual support or counseling in general wellness and fitness
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information
- Adhere to all professional standards, policies and procedures; federal, state and local requirements
- Orchestrate group dance classes i.e. Zumba, line, etc.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors and staff and maintain a good working relationship with all staff
- Uphold the RRC values in all interactions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Health Promotion, Exercise Science, or a related field is preferred
- At least one year’s experience in the wellness industry
- Passionate about health and exercise
- Multi-tasking skills
- Effective oral, written, and reading skills
- Current CPR certification

Rockwood at Whitworth is looking for a reliable individual to join our Transportation Department as an On-Call Driver. The primary purpose of this position will be to provide reliable and safe transportation to/from a non-emergency medical appointments, pharmacy and grocery pick-up and delivery. This position would also provide assistance to the Activity Department during special events both during and outside the regular work schedule.
Pay Range: $17.50 – $18.50 per hour
Shift Type: On-Call
Responsibilities
- Transport residents to and from scheduled trips, i.e. medical appointments, day outings, and evening events including weekend driving needs
- Complete necessary reports, forms, etc. for appropriate pre-trip/post-trip, sanitation on vehicle prior, during, and after a work shift
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Ability to assist residents with transferring in and out of vehicles
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to a changing work schedule
- Successfully complete Rockwood’s employment orientation
- Continue to pass the mandatory drug and alcohol random testing
- Assist the department with a variety of transportation needs when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, and become knowledgeable of resident rights
- Refer any resident concern to the appropriate manager in written form for appropriate intervention
- Assist in special functions under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator and Director of Life Enrichment
- Be present, on time, and ready for work on each assigned day
- Be professional, timely, considerate, and kind to both residents and other Rockwood Team Members
Required Skills and Experience
- Valid Drivers license with good driving history
- Trained in CPR or must acquire CPR Certification within 45 days of hire date
- 3 years of driving experience. Must provide a Driver’s Abstract.
- 1-year experience working with or in a senior community preferred
- Experience driving large wheelchair type van/bus preferred
- Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated capacity to network with inter-departments and community resources
- Excellent organization skills to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to research area locations and map out destinations via a computer program
- Excellent customer service attitude

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Fitness Instructor to join our dynamic team at Rockwood South Hill. The Fitness Instructor is responsible for supporting the Wellness Director in overseeing the fitness center as well as instructing fitness classes for Rockwood South Hill residents and employees. As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for leading engaging classes, educating clients on fitness techniques, and designing personalized workout programs that cater to individual needs and goals.

Responsibilities:
- Ability to teach a variety of exercise classes to meet the variable levels of employees and residents
- Assist in ongoing education opportunities for employees and residents in all aspects of wellness that support the LiveWell program
- Attend and support the LiveWell Committee meetings and play an active role in its goals and objectives
- Develop and implement quarterly or semi-annual special programs that motivate employees to improve their health and quality of life
- Develop personal exercise and diet plans
- Advise participants on program and class procedures and policies, as appropriate
- Set up and monitor class equipment, and ensure its return in serviceable conditions
- Track progress of participants; maintain files as appropriate
- Ensure that safety and injury prevention policies and procedures are adhered to by participants; report accidents and prepare accident reports, as required
- Communicate to the employees monthly through the newsletter, bulletin boards, and/or flyers about ongoing programs and educational opportunities, and write articles on varied topics related to wellness
- Maintain statistics on employee involvement, and any other statistics necessary to support the wellness program
- Act as an advocate for aging and activity in our community
