Paved Path to Dog Park

Listed under: ,

Ten percent of residents at Rockwood South Hill enjoy the company of four-legged furry companions, also known as dogs. As a way to enhance resident life, the Executive Leadership Team decided to create a dog park for both the residents and their furry friends to enjoy. The path to get to the dog park was originally a gravel trail. This trail leads to both the dog park and a walking trail through beautiful wetlands along the Rockwood property. Being covered in rocks and with unstable drop-offs along the sides of the trail, this path was difficult for people with canes, walkers, and vision impairment to utilize. It was also not able to be plowed of snow, making this path largely unusable during the winter. After requests from several residents, Rockwood Leadership partnered with the Foundation to pave the path to the entrance of Jamie’s Trail and the dog park. The path is now easily accessible for all residents and can be plowed so that it’s available for use during the winter months, as well.
