Board of Trustees

Our highly involved Board of Trustees meets frequently and works to make Rockwood’s vision for the future a reality. This impressive group of dedicated individuals is comprised of members of the local professional and service community as well as residents – a very successful formula.

  • I will do my best to ensure that Spokane United Methodist Homes is operated in a manner that upholds our values and merits the trust and confidence of every individual who has a vested interest in the continuing success of our communities.

  • I will be a responsible steward of the Organization’s resources and will strive to ensure its long term financial viability and ability to fulfill its mission.

  • I will strive to actively participate in the Governing Board’s deliberations and discussions and to increase my level of knowledge of Spokane United Methodist Homes.

  • I will respect the confidentiality of privileged information and will avoid acting as spokesperson for the Board unless specifically authorized to do so.

2016 Board of Trustees

John Barber, Chair

Trustee since 2013, John is a retired engineer whose career has included working at NASA as an aerospace Engineer and then he worked for several transportation administrations to design and implement transit systems.
He offers skills in design, cost benefit analysis and operational planning. John serves as Chair of the Executive Committee and is on the Governance, and Strategic Planning Committees.

Mounts Camilla Nov 2011bwCamilla Mounts: Vice Chair

Trustee since 2013.  Camilla works as a realtor, but has worked in long-term care administration.  She is a member of Millwood Presbyterian Church where she sings in the choir and is a deacon.  Camilla is a member of Spokane Valley Rotary and is a member and past-president of P.E.O. She serves on the Executive, Finance, Pension, Strategic Planning, Appleway Court Board and Affordable Housing Committees.

Bafus Chris bwChris Bafus

Trustee since 2016, Chris works as a financial planner at Pillar Financial Group. Chris is an active member of the Manito United Methodist Church, serving as its memorial and foundation chairman. He also serves on the board for the United Methodist Foundation of the Northwest, and is a member of the El Katif Shriners. He serves on the Finance and Pension Committees.

B. Bauchwitz bwBarry Bauchwitz

Trustee since 2015, Barry is a retired sales and marketing executive who has worked for major corporations. He enjoys taking piano lessons, teaching extended learning courses for language and history, playing bridge, and is a member of the Spokane Magic Club.  He serves as Chair of the Governance Committee and on the Strategic Planning Committee.

Bornhoft Beth bwBeth Bornhoft

Trustee since 2016, Beth is a retired loan servicing manager and works as a part-time assistant to her son and daughter-in-law who are both realtors. Beth volunteers her time at St. David’s Episcopal Church and with a reading program at Linwood Elementary. Beth serves on the Governance, Appleway Court Board and Affordable Housing Committees.

Rev. Dale Cockrum

Trustee since 2008, Rev. Cockrum is the past Inland District Superintendent for the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church. Dale serves on the Executive and Strategic Planning Committees.

Keith Gehr

Trustee since 2013, Keith is a resident at Rockwood Hawthorne with his wife Betty.  Keith worked as a patent agent for Weyerhaeuser for over 20 years. He serves on the South Hill Building, Appleway Court Board and Affordable Housing Committees. 

Maureen Green bwMaureen Green

Trustee since 2014, Maureen is retired from banking and also worked as Director of Admissions for St. George’s School.  She has enjoyed volunteering for Junior League of Spokane, Spokane Music Festival, Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. John’s Cathedral, Campbell House Committee, and currently serves on the board of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. She serves on the Governance and Strategic Planning Committees. 

Dennis Kifer

Past Board Chair and trustee since 1996, Dennis provides the board financial and leadership skills as an accountant and a lay leader in the Inland District of the United Methodist Church. He serves on the Executive, Finance and Pension Committees, and as President of the Appleway Court Board.

Maddock Todd 2007 bwTodd Maddock

Trustee since 2016, Todd previously lived in Lewiston, Idaho and worked as the Lewiston Port Commissioner. He served on the board for North Idaho Children’s Home, Lewiston Chamber of Commerce, Lewiston Library, and Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry. He is a charter member of the Lewis-Clark State College Foundation and the Idaho Community Foundation. Todd serves on the Finance and Building Committees.

Nash Patricia bwPatricia Nash


Trustee since 2016, Pat is a member of Manito United Methodist Church where she teaches Sunday School and sings in the choir. She worked 27 years for Group Health coordinating the Eastern WA Board of Directors/Governance Services Office. She volunteers as a nanny at Providence Sacred Heart’s Neonatal ICU, and occasionally at Christ’s Kitchen. Pat serves on the Governance, Appleway Court Board and Affordable Housing Committees.

Nielsen bwBen Nielsen

Trustee since 2016, previous service from 2004-2012 and past Board Chair. Ben is a retired architect and founding principal of NAC Architecture. His additional community service includes Whitworth Foundation Board, Inland Northwest Blood Centers, service as an accreditor for the National Architectural Accrediting Board, and Rotary 21
of Spokane. He serves on the Strategic Planning Commitee and as Chair of the South Hill Building Committee.

Parks Robyn Photo bwRobyn Parks

Trustee since 2015.  Robyn currently works as a CPA at her own firm, Parks Associates, which provides business, non-profit, and individual tax and accounting services. She currently serves on the boards of the Girls Scouts and Connoisseur Concerts. Robyn previously served on the board for the Better Business Bureau. She serves as Chair of the Finance Committe and on the Executive and Pension Committees.

StanyerbwBrent Stanyer

Brent T. Stanyer, JD, AEP®, is an estate planning and elder law attorney. Brent is also the current president of the Spokane Estate Planning Council, and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He serves on the Pension Committee.

Trustee since May 2013, Elizabeth Szombathy is currently the owner of a commercial and residential interior design firm and has a diverse background, including operating a manufacturing company, and has worked in urban planning. She serves as Chair of the Governance Committee, and on the Executive and South Hill Building Committees.
